Formed in March 2023, Lazyacres is a Philadelphia-based indie band blending dreamy textures, surf-inspired guitar work, and heartfelt songwriting into a sound that’s both nostalgic and refreshingly modern.
What began as a solo project by singer and guitarist Josh Owens quickly evolved into a dynamic four-piece outfit comprised of lifelong friends Anant Murty (guitar), Brandon Pirrocco (drums), and Mason Jones (bass). The band’s tight chemistry and shared musical vision have transformed Lazyacres into a full-fledged collaboration, delivering music that’s washed-out, resounding with emotion and echoing through the ether.
Drawing influence from artists like Kurt Vile, Michael Nau, Real Estate, and Turnover, Lazyacres crafts songs that feel like hazy summer afternoons; effortless, reflective, and full of warmth. Their sound floats somewhere between indie rock and dream pop, wrapped in jangly guitars, fluid basslines, and atmospheric rhythms that strike a balance between laid-back and a full-on tilt at the kaleidoscope in your soul.
The project first gained traction with its initial solo recordings, but the band’s evolution truly taken shape with the releases of “In Due Time” and “Sippin’ Wine.” Both tracks offer a glimpse into the direction of their upcoming debut EP 'Nospacebar'. With shimmering melodies and a togetherness that points to their long association, these songs signal a band settling comfortably into an identity that has a constant eye on the future.
